Building a Wharenui

The wharenui was to represents an ancestor.  

and a at the front the koruru carving represents a head.

A wharenui  literally big house is a communal house of the Maori people of New Zealand, generally situated as the focal point of a marae.

How long does a wharenui tribe stand for?

Why do they build wharenui?

When were wharenui built and how did they start their ideas.

They could stay until the chief is killed or has died.

They built wharenui to greet people from other countries.

Fire spreads when somebody lights something on fire on purpose or accident when somebody lights something on fire it can spread really fast and the fires oxygen only goes up   

If there is a fire it is better for you to be on your knees for safety and you always have to have a meet up place to be safe.

Fire hazards can make the oxygen polluted and even burn it can make your lungs stop from breathing so keep a tee shirt or tea tell to cover your mouth and your nose and make your way out in a safe perssion it's easier to go out your window if it is a 1 story house.

Fire safety if there is a fire your life is more important than your things so make sure you have instant finance so they can return everything just the way it was and if you have a pet also make sure you take him because he is also part of the family.

If a fire happens make really sure you know the firefighters phone number so they can put out the fire if you have a safe place outside i will suggest you to be at your neighbor's house

And ask to use there phone.

And don't try to put the fire out yourself with a house because you have to be safe

Wait until the firefighters get there and it is important to know where you live just say if i say i live i fenchurch but i actually live down laybourn circle letter box 1 he wouldn't now so it is important to know where you live.

When you are in a safe area you have to make sure where to stay for the night at your nana's unites house or even your neighbor's house you have to now if everybody is there or not and if everyone is safe or not.

Stay at your safe are spot until the firefighters come to house and when they put out the fire just let them do their job it may spread to other people's house if you're not quick the only thing you take with you is some clothes and a phone it all depends on the time if you're fast or not the cops might ask your mum and dad and siblings questions on how the fire happen.

Its best to meet up at the front not at the back because if you go to the back you will be trapped eventually all get burnt if there is a fire always be spart on where you're going

If go frow the back door don't go jumping over the fence on your own before your mum and dad will think you're still in there and they will get you but you are already safe so he will be burnt that's why you have to be smart .

and then we sang and niva Joined in the singing with us and then lewisa thank Niva for coming and visiting Glenbrae school and then classes started getting sent out but room 10 stayed inside and played a fun game.

Mr Nath put his keys in the middle and we had each numbers and we had to try to get the key first or whoever got it and the person who didn't get it can tag them and and the person who has the keys losses the point and then they would have to swop with another team.

pour,mix,stir,get,tip,add,drink,put,boil,sweet,clean,make,wash,

• First get a clean cup
• pour some hot boiling water
• Then some add chocolate milo
• Now pour some milk into your cup
• And then add two teaspoons of sugar
• Now stir the milo until it become a hot milo

Yesterday we had our first club for term 3 our teacher miss Sigamoney and miss Elia it was in room 9 we had to tune our ukulele and learn how to turn the strings and strung the strings on the ukulele i felt very excited and happy to play and learn how to use a ukulele because then i will know how to play ukulele at home. when i know how to play i felt cheerful because other people were cheering me up when i was playing a ukulele.

                       Get out of the house                                                                                                           One good Night when mum was putting wood in the chimney and she was making dinner the fire suddenly got caught on fire because mum turned the heater on very high and the brown carpet got on fire fast going to the kitchen floor mum put the tea tell over the kitchen oven and the tea tell got on fire burning all the tea tells on the bench then the loud alarm went off and mum quickly went to get baby nora and sister griddle and brother hansoul they left the house and called the firefighters immediately.

When the firefighters got here half of the house was gone on fire in ashes so quickly so they went to put out the fire fast as possible because it will get big and bigger so They needed 3 firefighters to come and help us to put out the fire flames there were flames of smoke around the whole neighborhood.

Then the whole neighborhood came to look and all the people had to sleep somewhere else because the smoke was polluted in the fire so they had to sleep at there nans house for the week and when they got back the house was gone so they had to move out to a Different house.

Fitness

Today  some students from room 8 came to our class for fitness

We did our warm ups it was stretches then we were put into 3 teams.

Room 8 students went for a jog around the net ballcourts then away. we acted like military soldiers and used strategies to keep the team as close knit unit we reported to the leader at the end of the jog.

Fitness today was challenging but fun!

To day, room 10 went for fitness with Mrs.Raj and also learned geometry on the netball court. We learned about geometrical shapes by making them with our bodies.  The first shape we made was a triangle. We moved on to making more 2D shapes like a square, a rectangle, an oval, a circle, a trapezium and a diamond. Miss Card was taking pictures of us making the shape.

After we made our shapes, we had to say 3 facts about each shape. All of us had to spread out on the rectangular court and did star jumps,press ups, step ups etc. After all this, we went around  and looked at the the courts for shapes that were drawn on the courts.

It was good to do fitness as well as learn about geometrical shapes.

Kiwi Sports

Last week on Thursday Room 10 went to the school hall to Kiwi sports.

Then we saw Chrissy and her friend Antonia our Kiwi sport leader teaching us how to play netball.

First we did our warm up. It was a game called

Shore,shark,sea. We ran to the left and to the right and to the middle. It was fun.

Then we got into two groups, group 1 and 2. I was in group 2, we got buddies from group 1 and group 2. I was with Lewis we had to pass the ball from my chest to his and we did overhead,bounce pass,and shoulder throws.

Then we got into 4 groups. It was like relay tag but we had to run to the back to get the ball

Our game was called under and over. We had to pass the ball to the back and the front people had to go to the back to keep on passing to the back.

Then we lined up from where we were and walked out of the school hall.

We went back to class in our lines.My favourite part was when we played under and over but my least favourite part was the around our body game because it was very hard.

My name is Iki. I have four sisters. They are Geneva, Suzie, Erina and Whitney and one brother whose name is Jeremiah                                  

Families are nice and they help you do your homework at home because that is what families do.

Mum always takes care of me, my siblings and cousins.

My family's goal is to be kind. My dad always works and so does my mum.

My family is the most important thing to me in the whole world. My dad is Toloa and my mum is Fakalaga.  

We are Niuean. I was born in New Zealand with my brother and sisters. My mum, dad and nana were born in Niue.
